Brazilian Butt Lift Before & After

Check out these before and after photos of past Brazilian butt lift patients of Dr. James Lacey. These photos can give a realistic idea of the amazing body contour improvements you can achieve through this surgery.

Are you discouraged by a flat backside?  You hit the gym religiously but achieving that curvy figure you desire feels impossible. Maybe you’re seeing results in other areas, but your glutes just don’t seem to get that lift, despite squats and lunges. Plus, stubborn fat clinging to your stomach or thighs frustrates your efforts to build the shape you want.

That’s where a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) can help. This surgery strategically sculpts your body by removing unwanted fat deposits from areas like your stomach or thighs and then transferring that fat to your buttocks. This creates a more rounded, fuller buttock profile and helps you achieve a more balanced overall figure.

What is a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)?

Brazilian Butt Lift or BBL is an invasive surgery that helps you achieve a curvier figure by transferring fat from your stomach, hips, thighs, or lower back to your buttocks. It’s not a traditional lift but rather increases volume to create a more balanced look. Additionally, removing fat from your belly or lower back can also make your waist appear smaller.

At Kanata Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. James Lacey uses a two-step approach. First, he gently removes unwanted fat with liposuction, a technique that uses a small tube to suction out the fat. Then, that fat is carefully injected into your buttocks to create a rounder, fuller shape.

In some cases, if there isn’t enough fat for transfer, Dr. Lacey might recommend gaining some weight or advise against the procedure altogether. Using fat from a donor is not a safe option.

BBLs are generally considered safer than other buttock augmentation procedures, especially with the advancements made in recent years. And the best part is your BBL results can last for years, even a decade or more.

What Are the Benefits of Brazilian Butt Lift in Ottawa?

Brazilian Butt Lift offers several key benefits that you can expect:

Natural Look and Feel

Unlike implants, a BBL utilizes your own body fat for a more natural look and feel. As a result, your new curves seamlessly blend with your existing body shape.

Dual Transformation

Not only will you achieve a fuller, rounder backside, but liposuction is also used during the BBL procedure to remove unwanted fat from areas like your stomach, hips, or thighs. This creates a sculpted and streamlined silhouette.

Low Risk of Rejection

Because the BBL relies on your own fat for augmentation, there's a lower risk of rejection compared to procedures using implants. This reduces potential complications and can give you longer-lasting results.

Minimally Invasive

While BBL is a surgery, Dr. Lacey prioritizes minimally invasive techniques. This often means a faster recovery time and less discomfort compared to other procedures.

Customized Results

Unlike implants with limited options, a BBL allows Dr. Lacey to tailor the procedure to your specific goals. You can discuss the desired fullness, shape, and overall look you want for your buttocks.

Breakthrough Weight Loss Plateaus

We’ve already established that stubborn fat can be frustrating. A BBL can help you achieve the sculpted look you desire, even if you haven't been able to lose weight in all the areas you want. By removing unwanted fat and adding volume to your buttocks, you'll see a noticeable difference in your overall shape.

Am I an Ideal Candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Here’s how to know if you might be a good candidate for this procedure:

4 (1) min
Generally Healthy and Happy with Your Weight

Being in good overall health is important for any surgery, and BBL is no exception. Ideally, you'll be close to your goal body weight.

Ready to Refine Your Shape

Many women in their 20s and 30s are happy with their overall figure but want to enhance their curves. A BBL can help you achieve that dramatic, rounder shape you desire.

Suffer From Sagging or Loose Skin

Even if you're noticing some sagging skin or volume loss in your buttocks due to age or weight fluctuations, you might still be a good candidate for a BBL. Dr. Lacey can discuss if the procedure can help you regain that youthful fullness.

Enough Fat to Work With

A BBL uses liposuction to remove unwanted fat from areas like your hips, thighs, or abdomen. This fat is then transferred to your buttocks. So, having some treatable fat stores in these areas is necessary.

Realistic Expectations and Positive Outlook

A BBL is really powerful for body sculpting, but it's not magic. Dr. Lacey will discuss realistic expectations with you during your consultation.

Avoid Smoking or Be Smoke-Free

If you're a smoker and considering a BBL, Dr. Lacey recommends quitting for a period of time before and after surgery. Smoking can negatively impact healing and increase the risk of complications.

Who Should Avoid the Procedure?

There are some common contraindications with the BBL as well. Here are some things to consider:

  • Limited Fat Stores

A BBL uses liposuction to remove fat from other areas and transfer it to your buttocks. So, if you don’t have enough treatable fat stores, the procedure might not be possible.

  • Overall Health

It’s important to be in good general health for any surgery. If you have active infections, uncontrolled diabetes, or certain blood disorders, a BBL might not be recommended until these conditions are under control.

  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, waiting until after these periods is best for your health and safety.

  • Healing Concerns

If you have a history of poor wound healing or keloid scarring (raised, thick scars), Dr. Lacey will discuss these concerns with you during your consultation.

How to Prepare for a Brazilian Butt Lift?

At Kanata Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, we believe preparation is key. Here are some steps to get you ready for your BBL surgery:

Medical Evaluation

Dr. Lacey will perform a complete health check to make sure you’re in tip-top shape for surgery.

Smoking Cessation

Smoking can slow healing, so Dr. Lacey recommends quitting smoking at least six weeks before your BBL. This gives your body time to adjust and be ready for surgery.

Medication Review

Some medications can interfere with surgery. Dr. Lacey will want to review your current medications and may advise stopping some before your BBL.

Healthy Lifestyle

Maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine leading up to your BBL is important. It helps your body stay strong and prepares it for healing after surgery.

What Is the Procedure for a Brazilian Butt Lift in Ottawa?

The BBL procedure typically involves the following steps:

Consultation

During the initial consultation with Dr. Lacey, he’ll assess your anatomy, discuss your goals, and review your medical history to ensure BBL is the right choice for you. Together, you’ll determine the best approach to achieve your desired outcome.

Liposuction

Your Brazilian Butt Lift will be performed under general anesthesia, ensuring your comfort throughout the procedure. Once comfortably sedated, Dr. Lacey will use liposuction to gently harvest unwanted fat from targeted areas like your back, hips, or thighs. These areas are carefully selected based on your body composition and skin quality for optimal results.  Remember, good skin elasticity in these “donor” areas is crucial for successful fat transfer.

Purification

Once the fat is retrieved, Dr. Lacey purifies it to remove any unwanted tissues. This way, only healthy, viable fat cells are used for transfer to your buttocks.

Injection

The purified fat is then strategically injected into specific areas of your buttocks, between the dermis and muscle. Dr. Lacey prefers to make small, hidden incisions to create a natural-looking, rounded shape with the desired volume, minimizing any visible scarring.

It’s important to know that not all injected fat survives. Typically, about 70% remains permanently, while the rest is naturally absorbed by your body. However, the remaining 70% will provide lasting results as long as you maintain a healthy weight. There’s also a safe limit to the amount of fat injected at once for each buttock and Dr. Lacey makes sure the procedure stays within these limits.

Post-Procedure Care and Recovery After BBL

Proper recovery is key to achieving your dream results Key aspects include:

Compression Garments

For 3-4weeks after surgery, you’ll be wearing special compression garments. These help reduce swelling and support your new curves as they take shape.

Avoid Sitting

To prevent any displacement of the transferred fat, it’s important to avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for at least the first two weeks.

Sleeping Position

While you recover, sleeping on your stomach or side is recommended to avoid putting pressure on your buttocks.

Hydration and Nutrition

Drinking plenty of water and eating nutritious foods will give your body the building blocks it needs to recover quickly.

Follow-Up Visits

Regular follow-up appointments with Dr. Lacey are an important part of your recovery. These visits allow him to monitor your progress, address any questions you might have, and make sure everything is healing as planned.

Alternate Treatments to Brazilian Butt Lift

However, they are not suitable for everyone and require a different surgical approach. Here’s the quick difference between the two:

Risks and Complications

While the BBL is generally safe, it carries some risks and potential complications. These are as follows:

  • In rare cases, fat can enter the bloodstream (fat embolism) and cause serious problems like infection, blood clots, and even tissue death.
  • Sometimes, the transferred fat may not settle perfectly, leading to unevenness or lumps in your buttocks.
  • Improper fat placement can create unnatural contours.
  • Fluid buildup (seroma), bleeding (hematoma), and excessive fat removal in the donor areas can occur.
  • There’s a chance of developing a reaction to the anesthesia used during surgery.
  • There also could be some psychological distress from unmet surgery outcomes.
  • Although discreet, there could be some scarring involved due to incisions.

While these risks might sound scary, it’s important to remember that Dr. Lacey is a board-certified plastic surgeon with extensive experience performing BBL procedures. He prioritizes your safety and uses advanced techniques to minimize complications.
